Exercises for Teens

Exercise for Teens

With such busy schedules it can be hard sometimes for us to make time for exercise. Exercising is an important part of looking and feeling great but with school, dating, going out, and all of our other activities how can we make time for exercise? Believe it or not, some of the things we love doing count as exercise. We just might not do it often enough. We’ll cover the basics of exercise for teens in this article. A lot of these tips are great exercises for flat stomach as well which many of us crave.

Aerobic Exercise

Aerobic exercises are the best for teens who like variety. Running, skating, cycling, swimming, power-walking, tennis, basketball, dancing, hockey, soccer, skiing, and jumping rope are all forms of aerobicactivities. Basically, anything that gets your heart going is considered an aerobic exercise.  Making your aerobic activities add up to at least 60 minutes a day can help improve health.

Strength Training

Strength training involves both aerobic and flexibility exercises. This helps build muscle to boost metabolism and help keep joints working well. Boosting your metabolism can improve your health and encourage weight loss! You can use weights to strength train or use your own body by doing exercises such as sit-ups, pushups, and squats. Most people who work out with weights typically use two different kinds: free weights (including barbells, dumbbells, and hand weights) and weight machines. Free weights usually work a group of muscles at the same time; weight machines typically are designed to help you isolate and work on a specific muscle. All of this is great exercise for teens.
